Make a countdown calendar they'll love opening

A free online countdown calendar: a honeycomb of little windows, each hiding a photo, a message, a video or a voice note. One opens every day until the big day.

Takes about 5 minutes. Free, and they won't need an account to open it.

How to make a countdown calendar

  1. Name it

Give it a title and a welcome message, and choose how many windows it has, from 4 to 40.

  2. Style it

Pick colours, a layout, an easy-to-read font and the sound each window makes when it opens.

  3. Set the dates

Choose when it starts and whether a window opens every day, every few days or once a week.

  4. Fill the windows

Add a message, a photo, a short video or a voice note behind each one.

  5. Share it

Publish, then copy the link or email it with a cover picture. They just click and open.

What you can hide behind each window

  • Messages: a headline and a note, from an inside joke to a long letter.
  • Photos: favourite memories, with a description for anyone using a screen reader.
  • Videos: a short clip of up to 50 MB, like a message from a friend who can't be there.
  • Sound clips and voice notes: a song snippet, a bedtime story or simply your voice.
  • Your own opening sound: pick from chimes, bells, a music box and more, or upload your own.

Countdown calendar ideas

Built to be accessible

Buzzbo is made for people with additional needs and disabilities, and the countdown is no exception. Every window works with a keyboard and a screen reader. Confetti and animations respect reduced-motion settings. You can choose fonts designed for easier reading, such as Lexend and Atkinson Hyperlegible, and a high-contrast colour scheme. Sounds are gentle by default and can be turned off.

Questions people ask

Is Buzzbo Countdown free?

Yes. Building, publishing and sharing a countdown is free.

Does the person I send it to need an account?

No. They open the link and the countdown appears straight away. You need a free Buzzbo account to publish it, so only you can change it or email it out.

How many windows can a countdown have?

Anything from 4 to 40. Popular choices are 7 for a week, 12, 24 for Christmas and 25 or 31 for a month.

When do the windows open?

You choose the start date and how often a window unlocks: every day, every 2 or 3 days, or once a week. Each window unlocks at midnight in the timezone you pick, so the order and timing are the same wherever they are.

What can I put behind each window?

A headline and message, a photo, a short video (up to 50 MB) or a sound clip like a voice note (up to 10 MB). You can also choose the sound that plays when a window opens, or upload your own.

Can I change it after I send it?

Yes, until a window has been opened. Once someone opens a window it seals, so what they've already seen stays the same.

How do I send it?

Copy the link and share it however you like, or email it from Buzzbo to up to 10 people at a time with your own message and a cover picture.

Is it accessible?

Yes. Every window works with a keyboard and a screen reader, confetti and animation respect reduced-motion settings, and you can pick easy-to-read fonts like Lexend and Atkinson Hyperlegible plus a high-contrast colour scheme.
